BW300TP wear-resistant steel by specially designed process possesses a good trade-off between high hardness and easy-formation. The tensile strength reaches 1200MPa while the yield strength remains only approximately 600MPa as well as with fractured elongation nearly 20%. As a result, BW300TP exhibits superior formability during the manufacture of cylinder of concrete mixer truck without changing the present equipment.

BW300TP has been widely used in the main concrete mixer truck manufactures, such as CIMC, CAMC groups with total sales volume of 20,000 tons.

The first batch of concrete mixer trucks using BW300TP is in service since 2013 with cylinder thickness of 4.5mm and blade thickness of 3.5mm, reducing the weight by 33% in comparison with original design. Baosteel’s EVI team participated the simulation design of new product and developed the new die for blade. This is a typical case of Baosteel’s providing a package of solutions for customers.

In 2017, Baosteel and customer follow the first batch of concrete mixer trucks and measure the thickness reduction after continuous 4-year service. The results show that the maximum reduction in thickness of cylinder by using BW300TP is only 0.2mm, which is comparable with that of traditional material after one-year service. In other words, the wear resistance of BW300TP is four times higher than that of traditional material.

BW300TP has received increasing attentions from the market and the sales volume is also rapidly increased, which is accelerating the updating of material in the field of concrete mixer truck.
